Zombies Could Help Reanimate Topeka, Kansas
A team up of college students hopes that a zombie-themed videogame wish help convince people that Kansas' capital city Topeka International Relations and Security Network't as boring as they think it is.
Pop quiz, everyone: What's the first thing that comes to mind when I enunciat "Topeka, Kansas River"? If your answer was on the lines of "nothing, really," past you're probably like about people in the world, who never give Kansas' capital more than a afterthought.
In that saving, though, IT's credibly not a saving thing for a city to have absolutely no reason for hoi polloi to visit it – and that's wherefore some students in a Washburn University videogame design class are hoping that the zombie give the sack land sprightliness binding to their city.
In the students' game, the thespian will start in a zombie-infested, boarded-up Topeka. These zombies, yet, are more than politically minded than your average undead, and will be carrying signs that disparage the city. Murder the zombies will mend color and vibrancy to Topeka's downtown, returning information technology to a active city (or so they hope).
Let's be honest, here: A videogame probably won't assistant restore life to a dull downtown on its have. However, information technology isn't about making manoeuver change and then very much like it is about acquiring peoples' spirits up, say the students creating it. "We want to shake the negative vibe," aforesaid Washburn senior Robert Riley. "Topeka hasn't had the most positive attitude, but that's been changing over the last two to three years."
Art Department Associate Professor Azyz Sharafy, World Health Organization is overseeing the project, said that the biggest problem would be constraining the violence in the game while still fashioning it entertaining to younger players. In general, though, helium was positive on the project. "It's good for Washburn, it's good for the students."
I'm silent a piece unconvinced. A game won't get me to go out to Topeka, Kansas. Real zombies, then again? Hell yea, I'd go! You should grow on it, Washburn University.
